DIY Headboard
Hi everyone!! Here's a DIY project that I've been wanting to share. I made this headboard earlier this year and it was so easy! You don't need to be an DIY expert to make one of these. There are so many different ways of making a headboard. I would suggest looking through magazines or do a search online to get ideas and see what style you like best, as well as how simple or complex you want it to be. This was my first time making a headboard, so I chose to go with something a little less complicated.
Materials needed:
- Plywood
- 1 1/2 inch thick foam
- Batting
- Fabric
- A hanging system
- Marker
- Utility knife
- Spray adhesive
- Staple gun
- Scissors
1. I bought the plywood at Home Depot and just had them cut it to size. Makes life so much easier. :)
2. Place plywood on foam
and trace around it.
|
3. Using your utility knife,
cut along the line.
|
5. Lay the plywood on
top of the foam.
|
4. Spray adhesive onto the
foam.
|
6. Lay batting on flat
surface and place foam
board on it. Cut around
leaving 3 inches extra on
all sides.
|
7. Starting at center from
corners, staple and work
your way out. Do this on
all sides. Make sure to
work opposite sides.
|
8. Trim off excess batting.
|
9. Now place your board
on fabric. Again leave 3
inches on all sides & cut.
|
11. Here is the finished
project!!
|
10. Use the same technique
as in step #7.

I forgot to take a picture of the back, but I just used a long narrow piece of plywood and stapled it to the back, attaching all the panels together. Then I added the hooks and hung it up on the wall. Pretty easy, right? Please leave me comments below and let me know if you have made your own headboard. I would love to see pictures! Also feel free to leave me any questions. Thanks and have a wonderful day!! :)
Looks simple enough; trying this soon! Love the panels in stead of one big piece.
ReplyDeleteDo you remember where you bought your comforter and throw pillows at? I've been looking for something just like this!
